BaD Radio Fantasy League Newsletter - Week One Preview

~The BaD Radio Fantasy Newsletter~

With Thursday came the much-anticipated start of the most successful and closely followed league sport has ever known: the BaD Radio Fantasy League.

The schedule starts off strong, headlined by the "You Eat Chitlins" Bowl: Donovan's Team Blackface against Norm's Handsome Pidgeons. Blackface appears to have the edge in the all-important running back category. The Pidgeons, however, seem to maintain an advantage in most other positions.

The Pidgeons other matchup of the week also features a little mix-induced bad blood as they take on Dan McDowell's Fun To Do Bad Things. Historians of this matchup trace the rivalry back almost exactly three years to when McDowell "made a joke out of damn near everything" concerning a "schedule for human beings." As to the two teams' rosters (for human beings), they appear very even, expect this game to come down to Monday Night's Bills-Pats game where Dan has both starting Patriots receivers.

The week's third billing  pits against one another two friends with slight homosexual overtones: Bob Sturm's One Man Wolfpack against Stanley Cup Champion (SCC) Bill Guerin's Pennsylvania Piranha's.  With the Wolfpack only getting 2.4 points out of Willie Parker  in Thursday's game, the scales appear to have tipped in the Piranha's favor.

With the draft less than a week ago, the transaction log was exceedingly light this week. Of the four moves made, Move of the Week has to go to Brad Richards and Ralph Strangis for picking up a starting quarterback, Brady Quinn, while only giving up a running back who—while talented—probably will not get the carries to be a factor in Leon Washington.

League outcry concerning the rules and roster limits set in place by co-commissioner Dan McDowell reached a fever pitch when league member Gabe Kapler considering ceding control of his team.

Said Kapler: "I'm not mad at the whack rules Dan put in. More just disappointed. I thought he said he had played fantasy before?"

Close observers fear that the complicated system has the potential to derail what otherwise promises to be an otherwise-scintillating season. This prognosticator, however, believes nothing can stand in the way of the mighty BRFL.
