When looking over the scores of this week's matches, owner Tom Gribble's Brown-Eye Betty stand out as the surprise team. After going a meek 1-1 through the first week, they exploded for 169 points, the highest in the league for Week Two. Much of the surge can be credited to Titans' running back Chris Johnson, who scored 65 points this week, most of any player this week. Thanks to his speed and ability to get into the open field, Johnson is known to have these games, especially against a defense like the Texans'. As part of a two-back rotation, however, he has his off weeks as well. Many around the league are watching to see if this outburst is sustainable and if Betty really are a contender.
The Denton Ex-Cons cannot catch a break (Actually, they played Computer this week, so that's a lie). After going winless in Week One, they threw up 130 points on the backs of receivers Andre Johnson (39 points) and DeSean Jackson (29), only to fall to Morrow's Mooterus by four points.
This loss shouldn't be too hard to cope with, however, because the list of teams losing to Morrow is like Ex-Cons' owner Chris Burney's Country Club: seldom lonely. Through the efforts of Morrow's much-maligned mfirst pick Frank Gore and his 59 points, the Mooterus remain the league's only unbeaten team.
The Pennsylvania Piranhas of Bill Guerin lost that distinction this week when they fell to Ralph Strangis and Brad Richards, known to the league as the Cheeseheads. If Guerin were looking to place blame this week, his receiving corp would be a good place to start. Reggie Wayne and Santana Moss garnered a mere four points each, but both of them are laughing at Greg Jennings, who might or might not have played this week. You can't tell from looking at the stat sheet. But hey, who's going to get a catch against the Bengals, am I right?
Finally, The First Cutler Is The Deepest, pride of your author, were the low men this week with a pitiful 70 points. Combined with their feeble efforts last week, this is a tem begging for the Barbaro treatment (By which I mean Dee Mirich needs to write poems about it so it can regain its strength. And join the angels).
